The government has given money to all schools through Sport Premium Funding. Their aim is simple; to improve sporting standards and keep the Olympic legacy going.

Bardney has greatly benefitted from our Sports Premium Funding. The money has allowed us to:

  • Purchase new and exciting equipment such as golf, lacrosse and badminton kit.
  • Enlist highly-qualified sports coaches to teach both the children and staff to improve the quality of delivery of sport within our school.
  • Run our yearly sports week which allowed children to partake in exciting new activities such as rock climbing, Kick boxing, circus skills, orienteering and much more
  • Meet the criteria we needed to achieve our bronze kitemark from Sainsburys School Games

All of this progress has meant that we have more children than ever taking part in afterschool activities. The standard of PE within the school has always been excellent, but now children are trying things they’ve never even heard of before and developing a wide range of physical skills. The enthusiasm instilled in the children has spread to out of school with many children now participating in the local football, kick boxing and gymnastics clubs.

During the School Year 2017/18 87% of our Year 6 pupils have attained the National Curriculum expectation of swimming 25 metres.
